Sunshine has been riding motorcycles since 1998 and has been involved in motorcycle safety and rider education since 2003. Sunshine teaches all levels of rider education from introductory classes to precision riding courses for expert riders. Sunshine is a Sidecar/Trike Education Program Chief Instructor, MSF 3WBRC RiderCoach, and a Mentor Instructor and Instructor Trainer for STAR.
Sunshine is the co-author of several STAR courses and can also be credited with helping Idaho STAR to become one of the first two basic rider training programs to be recognized by a national organization as meeting the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) Model National Standards for Entry-level Motorcycle Rider Training. Sunshine is the vice chairman of the State Motorcycle Safety Association (SMSA), serves on the Idaho Traffic Safety Commission, and recently joined NHTSA's Program Assessment team. In April of 2022, Sunshine received a Community Safety Award from the Idaho Transportation Department Office of Highway Safety.
Her goals are to lead others to knowledge, encourage thought and action, inspire excellence, and change the world and save lives, one motorcycle rider at a time. Sunshine enjoys all types of riding and has owned a variety of motorcycles over the years. She currently rides a 2016 BMW R1200GSW and a 1994 Harley-Davidson Dyna Lowrider.
Shaun brings over 10 years of fleet and logistics management to the STAR team. He also brings a life-long obsession with motorcycles and started riding at the old age of 3 on a Suzuki JR50. He got his first street bike in 2003 and took his first training course from Team Oregon that year. He became a STAR instructor in 2015 and a mentor instructor in 2021. Shaun’s current motorcycles are 1974 Harley-Davidson Shovelhead, 2008 Road King Classic, 1980 Suzuki JR50 (yes, it’s the same one), and a recently acquired KTM 1290 Adventure R.
Lindsay is a native to Idaho, currently living in Boise with her husband and children. Lindsay first started with STAR in 2016 and took a two year hiatus returning in March of 2022 as the Training Coordinator. She has ridden dirt bikes in her younger years and plans to start riding motorcycles in the near future. Lindsay loves to spend time with her family, going to concerts, and crafting.
Jeri Houghton, a native Idahoan, was born at Mountain Home Air Force Base and raised in the Post Falls/Coeur d'Alene area. She joined the Idaho STAR Program as the Student Services Specialist in early 2021 and was promoted to Office Manager in 2022. She has been riding motorcycles since she was 4 but hasn’t been very active with riding for about 15 years. Her favorite hobbies include gardening, camping, horseback riding, and hanging out with her husband and 2 Mini-Goldendoodles. Jeri brings 30+ years of customer service to her position along with her outgoing personality to ensure a pleasant interaction with all.
