Shaun Free

Shaun brings over 15 years of fleet and logistics management to the STAR team. He also brings a life-long obsession with motorcycles and started riding at the old age of 3 on a Suzuki JR50. He got his first street bike in 2003 and took his first training course from Team Oregon that year. He became a STAR instructor in 2015 and a mentor instructor in 2021. Shaun accepted the full-time position of Operations Manager in 2022. Shaun is STAR's liaison to the Idaho Coalition for Motorcycle Safety (ICMS), serves on the Motorcycle Safety Programs Committee for the State Motorcycle Safety Association (SMSA), and is a public speaker/advocate for burn survivors.

When he's not riding, teaching, or moving STAR bikes around the state, Shaun makes custom knives and leather goods. He enjoys spending time camping and boating with his wife, two kids, and two Boxers. Shaun’s current motorcycles are 1974 Harley-Davidson Shovelhead, 2008 Road King Classic, 1980 Suzuki JR50 (yes, it’s the same one), and a KTM 1290 Adventure R.
