
Sunshine has been riding motorcycles since 1998 and has been involved in motorcycle safety and rider education since 2003. Sunshine teaches all levels of rider education from introductory classes to precision riding courses for expert riders.
Sunshine is the co-author of several STAR courses and helped Idaho STAR become one of the first two basic rider training programs to be recognized by a national organization as meeting the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) Model National Standards for Entry-level Motorcycle Rider Training. Sunshine is the chairman of the State Motorcycle Safety Association (SMSA), serves on the Idaho Traffic Safety Commission and the Motorcycle Safety Task Force of Idaho, is an active member of NHTSA's Motorcycle Safety Program Assessment Team, and does traffic/motorcycle safety consulting. In April of 2022, Sunshine received a Community Safety Award from the Idaho Transportation Department Office of Highway Safety.
Her goals are to lead others to knowledge, encourage thought and action, inspire excellence, and change the world and save lives, one motorcycle rider at a time. Sunshine enjoys all types of riding and has owned a variety of motorcycles over the years. She currently rides a 2016 BMW R1200GSW, a 1994 Harley-Davidson Dyna Lowrider, and a 2024 Kawasaki ZX1400. When she's not riding her motorcycles or quad, she enjoys riding along with her husband in their SXS, hunting, and couch time with her two French Bulldogs.

Jeri Houghton, a native Idahoan, was born at Mountain Home Air Force Base and raised in the Post Falls/Coeur d'Alene area. She joined the Idaho STAR Program as the Student Services Specialist in early 2021 and was promoted to Office Manager in 2022. Jeri is "the voice of STAR" as she is typically the first to answer phone calls and assist current and future students with questions about classes and licensing requirements. Jeri brings 35+ years of customer service to her position along with her outgoing personality to ensure a pleasant interaction with all.
Jeri has been riding motorcycles since she was 4 but hasn’t been very active with riding for about 15 years. Her favorite hobbies include gardening, camping, horseback riding, and hanging out with her husband, their Mini-Bernedoodle, and their 2 Mini-Goldendoodles.

Shaun brings over 15 years of fleet and logistics management to the STAR team. He also brings a life-long obsession with motorcycles and started riding at the old age of 3 on a Suzuki JR50. He got his first street bike in 2003 and took his first training course from Team Oregon that year. He became a STAR instructor in 2015 and a mentor instructor in 2021. Shaun accepted the full-time position of Operations Manager in 2022. Shaun is STAR's liaison to the Idaho Coalition for Motorcycle Safety (ICMS), serves on the Motorcycle Safety Programs Committee for the State Motorcycle Safety Association (SMSA), and is a public speaker/advocate for burn survivors.
When he's not riding, teaching, or moving STAR bikes around the state, Shaun makes custom knives and leather goods. He enjoys spending time camping and boating with his wife, two kids, and two Boxers. Shaun’s current motorcycles are 1974 Harley-Davidson Shovelhead, 2008 Road King Classic, 1980 Suzuki JR50 (yes, it’s the same one), and a KTM 1290 Adventure R.

Lindsay is a native to Idaho, currently living in Boise with her husband and children. Lindsay first started with STAR in 2016 and took a two year hiatus returning in March of 2022 as the Training Coordinator. In her position, she takes care of the logistics for the STAR Instructor Corps, including but not limited to scheduling them for teaching assignments, managing their travel and payroll, and hiring and onboarding. Lindsay also serves on the Communications and Outreach Committee for the State Motorcycle Safety Association (SMSA) and is an administrative consultant for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) Motorcycle Safety Program Assessment Team.
Lindsay has ridden dirt bikes in her younger years and plans to start riding motorcycles in the near future. Lindsay loves to spend time with her family - husband, daughter, son, and three dogs, going to concerts, and crafting.

Kellen Logan is our newest full-time staff member and has been with STAR since May 2026. Kellen is STAR's in-house mechanic and assists the Operations Manager in servicing and maintaining the fleet of almost 200 motorcycles and managing the training sites. He lives in the Treasure Valley with his wife and teenage kids.
