Walk-Ins

Idaho STAR Class Walk-Ins

Thank you for your interest in taking an Idaho STAR course!

While we do not maintain a wait list, you can attempt a “walk-in.” To walk-in to a class, arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time with all required gear and speak with the Instructor. If there is a no-show to the class, you may be allowed to ride. Walk-ins are first-come-first-served; however, any walk-ins under the age of 21 have priority because they are required by Idaho code to take the course for endorsement.

Intro, Basic I, Basic II, and Enhanced Courses

It’s strongly recommended you sign up for a future class ahead of your desired walk-in date so you can gain access to the online classroom for Basic I and Basic II classes. It also makes it easier to move your registration over, and it guarantees you a reserved seat in the class you’re registered for case you are unable to get in as a walk-in to an earlier class. For Traditional Basic I with classroom, you must be present for the first classroom session, typically on Friday evening.

Intermediate Rider Training

The Intermediate Rider Training Course is a special exception to how walk-ins work. You must participate in a live Zoom classroom prior to being permitted as a walk-in for the riding session.*

Contact the Idaho STAR office either at 208-639-4540 or Info@IdahoSTAR.org so we can send you the information and link to the Zoom classroom.

*All Intermediate Zoom classroom sessions are conducted on the Tuesday evening prior to the riding session on Saturday and start at 5:30pm MST. To participate, you will need speakers and a microphone (webcam is not required). If someone does not show up for the Zoom session, you may be permitted to take their seat. Please be aware that the Zoom session may include up to three groups of riders from different class locations. Make sure that the no show you are replacing is from your desired location for the range session (e.g., Boise, Lewiston, and Idaho Falls IRT classes may be in the same Zoom session).

Please download our student Rider’s Guide prior to class. Printing is not necessary, but we will be referencing the guide throughout the class. Student Workbook
